I recently set up a new PC with a Ryzen 5500 processor and an RTX 5060 graphics card, paired with 16GB of DDR4 RAM. I booted up Elden Ring to test the performance, but I'm experiencing quite a bit of stuttering and inconsistent frame rates. I'm uncertain about what might be causing the issues and I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 5800X3D or 5700X3D, but I'm not sure if those CPUs would be compatible with my current setup. Could the problems be related to memory instead? Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Try using HWInfo64 to check your CPU's min and max temperatures. Sometimes issues like improper cooler mounting or thermal paste problems can cause lag. Also, look at your storage—if it's nearly full, that might slow things down too. Just be cautious with any CPU upgrade; some lower-end AM4 boards might not handle more powerful CPUs well.
You should check your RAM speed settings in the BIOS first. Also, if you're using a single stick of RAM, that could limit your performance. Make sure everything is set up right!
There are a lot of factors to consider. What resolution are you playing at? What settings do you have in the game? Also, make sure your drivers are up to date before diving into hardware changes.
Your motherboard is compatible with the 5800X3D. You won't see a huge clock speed increase, but the extra cores can help. However, I suggest running Memtest86 to check for any memory issues. If you're using 1 or 2 RAM sticks, that could also be a factor.
Thanks for the heads up! That's definitely something I need to consider.
You could also reach out to the retailer you got the prebuilt from. If it's not working as expected, they might help sort it out.

I just checked the requirements for Elden Ring, and it needs at least 12GB of RAM! With only 16GB total, Windows and other processes could be using up most of that, which might explain the stuttering.
