Why Is My New Router Capping WiFi Speeds at 100Mbps?

I just got a new router today that has a gigabit WAN port and I'm using a Cat 5E cable. However, I'm experiencing a speed cap on all my devices where the WiFi maxes out at just under 100Mbps and the upload speed is just under 50Mbps. I pay for a plan that offers 500Mbps download and 50Mbps upload. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this issue?

It sounds like you might be dealing with a potentially faulty cable or connector. If your WiFi is part of the router, try to ensure everything's plugged in properly. If you're using a separate Access Point, consider swapping out the cable. Just under 100Mbps is a common symptom if one of the wires isn't working correctly. Remember, the devices need to negotiate to get the full speed!

First, make sure to check what your router actually supports. Look into the network settings on it to see if everything is configured correctly. Also, were you getting similar speeds with your old setup?
