Why is my PC not performing as expected in games?

I'm having a tough time with my PC's performance, especially in games where my FPS is much lower than I anticipated based on my hardware. For example, I'm getting an average FPS of 150-160 in VALORANT, but it still feels off compared to what others with similar setups report. I've tried a bunch of solutions such as updating my GPU drivers, BIOS updates, reinstalling Windows, and adjusting both in-game and NVIDIA Control Panel settings. I've monitored my temps and usage, and everything seems fine. My power settings are set to High Performance too. Despite all this, I can't figure out why my FPS doesn't align with the benchmarks or the experiences of others with similar specs. Here are my specs:

- CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F @ 2.90GHz
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
- Motherboard: Gigabyte H510M H V2
- PSU: Aero Cool 700W
- OS: Windows 11 Pro

I've even linked where I bought my PC in case that helps. I'm really at a loss here and would appreciate any troubleshooting tips!

I think your CPU might be holding you back. It's an older model, and if you're watching benchmarks, they often use higher-end CPUs for comparison. If you want to get serious about gaming, you could look at upgrading to something more recent like an AMD Ryzen 5 7600 or an Intel i5-13600K. You’d also probably need a new motherboard for that, so it's something to consider!

What kind of motherboard should I look for if I go with the 13600K?

Honestly, 160 FPS in VALORANT sounds pretty decent with your setup. Considering your CPU is an i5-10400F, it may not be as powerful as some newer options out there, which can be a bit of a bottleneck for gaming performance. You might want to consider upgrading your CPU if you're aiming for higher performance, as that could help boost your FPS more effectively than trying to tweak settings. It's a solid budget CPU, but it's showing its age.
