I've built a gaming PC with some solid specs, but I can't seem to get the performance I expected. I'm considering some upgrades, but they don't seem to offer significant improvements. Here's what I've got:
- CPU: Intel i5 11400F (undervolted to -215 mv, which helped with temps but not much else).
- GPU: RX 6900 XT (hitting 110°C on the hotspot with a 15% power limit; around 105°C when it's at 0%).
- RAM: Adata XPG ST41 2x8 3200MHz (XMP enabled).
- MOBO: Asus Prime B460M-A R2.0.
- PSU: Gigabyte U1000D.
- Case: Cougar MX350-Mesh.
- CPU Cooler: Deepcool LE300 Marss 120mm.
- Storage: Crucial P5 M.2 1TB + 2TB HDD.
- OS: Fresh install of Windows 11.
Despite everything, my benchmarks are well below average, and my FPS is lower than YouTube comparisons. I've tried optimizations on Windows and the BIOS, and even undervolted the GPU, but Adrenalin isn't cooperating. I feel frustrated, especially after upgrading from an i3 10100 to an i5 11400F and from an RX 5700 XT to an RX 6900 XT. I'm gaming at 1080p on a 165Hz monitor, but I'm planning to upgrade to 1440p; however, I doubt that will fix my performance issues. Can anyone help me understand what's going wrong?

It sounds like your CPU might be struggling a bit. I’d consider getting either the R7 5700X or the i5 11600 for an upgrade, but make sure to check benchmarks closely since results can vary widely. It might not be a huge upgrade over your i5 11400F, so weigh your options carefully.
Gotcha, I will look out for more benchmarks then. Thanks!
