Why is my Windows 11 laptop taking so long to shut down?

I'm using a Windows 11 laptop, and today when I tried to shut it down via the Alt+F4 menu, it took nearly a full minute to power off. Usually, it shuts down within a couple of seconds. I even pressed shut down again while waiting for it to turn off. Is this something I should be concerned about? I want to make sure I don't face any future issues related to this delay.

When you shut your computer down, Windows allows all running programs time to close properly, which can take a bit. If some programs are slower than others, it can lead to delays. You might want to check Task Manager to see if something is hanging during the shutdown. If it’s not taking an unusually long time—for example, over 10 minutes—then it’s probably nothing to fret about.

It could be due to pending updates. Sometimes, when Windows has updates ready to install, it takes longer to shut down. It’s worth checking if there were any updates applied recently. Just a thought!

I get that! I always close all my apps too, but sometimes they just linger for a bit. If it's the same situation next time, try keeping Task Manager open to see what's slowing things down.
