I'm about to start college with a major in computer science, and I'm going to be diving into Python. I'll need to run local AI models, and I'm planning on using Linux because I'm really into that tech side of things. The AMD AI Max+ is priced at $2000, and I'm wondering if it's worth that investment or if there's a better option out there for what I need.

If you can afford it, a high-end Mac Mini could be a good choice for running local LLMs. But since you're set on Linux, I'm not the expert to recommend Linux specific options—maybe someone else can chime in on that!
I totally agree on avoiding Apple products; their UI isn't for everyone. Plus, Linux is great for gaming too!
