Why isn’t my headset microphone being recognized on my new PC build?

Hey everyone! I just put together my new PC and I'm running into some trouble with my headset not being recognized properly. It has a single 3.5mm jack, and when I plug it into the front jack, the system only identifies it as 'headphones' or 'speakers', never as a microphone. I've tried all three jacks on the back of the PC, but no luck. Initially, there was no sound at all, but after rebooting a few times, sound has started coming through. However, the microphone is still not detected. Does anyone have suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? I'm considering uninstalling and reinstalling the audio drivers, but I'd really prefer not to buy a Bluetooth headset if I can avoid it! By the way, here's the headset I'm using: [link to headset]. Thanks for your help!

Check your motherboard connections! Sometimes those case connectors can be plugged in incorrectly. It’s also worth ensuring your drivers are up to date—those can usually cause recognition issues.

I had the same thought! I made sure it’s plugged into the correct header. It’s seated properly, and the key is right. Are there any other wires I should be checking? Thanks a bunch!
