Hey everyone, I'm a new Intel user who recently switched from a Ryzen 9800X3D (long story – my old computer caught fire, yikes!). I'm running into a problem where my i9-12900k CPU never seems to hit 5GHz while gaming. It generally stays around 4880MHz. I've noticed that it briefly hits over 5000MHz when loading into games, but it doesn't maintain that in-game. I've checked the temperatures, and it was only at 48°C during a gaming session, so I doubt it's an overheating issue. I'm currently using MSI Afterburner to monitor the speeds. Are there any BIOS settings I should adjust to optimize performance? I'm really unfamiliar with Intel processors, as my last one was a Pentium 4. Any help would be appreciated!

That’s actually pretty normal! The 5.1/5.2GHz speeds are usually for single-core tasks. For most gaming scenarios, your CPU will boost to its all-core speeds, which are generally around 4.8-4.9GHz. If you need it to hit 5GHz consistently, you might want to consider overclocking it. By the way, why are you focused on hitting 5GHz? Your game seems to be running just fine at the current speeds!
You could try using Quick CPU to see the settings available for your CPU without diving into the BIOS. It’s helpful for checking and managing CPU capabilities post-startup! Looking through it can be a bit confusing at first, so if you need guidance, just let me know!

I installed Quick CPU, but I’m not sure what to look for. Can you give me some pointers?
