Why won’t my PC build turn on?

I'm having trouble getting my new PC build to power on. When I try to turn it on, I see a quick flash of activity from the power supply, but then it just shuts off and becomes unresponsive. The power button doesn't seem to work at all. I've already tried using different plugs and cables, but nothing changes. Any advice?

It sounds like you're experiencing a pretty common issue. Try doing some basic diagnostics: disconnect everything, except for the CPU, CPU cooler, 24-pin power connector, and the 4 or 8-pin CPU power connector. Reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery and shorting the + and - in the battery socket for about 5 seconds before putting it back. You can also try turning on the computer by shorting the front panel power pins directly. Check if your motherboard has any diagnostic tools, like a PC speaker connected or a 4 LED or 7-segment screen that might show error codes. If the components are functional, you should hear beeps or see an error code indicating there's an issue with the RAM.

Could you share your PC specs? It might help us figure out what's going wrong. Have you had this build working before, or is this the first time you've tried to boot it up?

This is the first time I'm trying it out. I'm still getting everything set up!
