Will my CPU hold back my gaming setup?

I'm planning to build a budget-friendly gaming PC aiming for 1080p performance, mainly for competitive games and some mainstream AAA titles. I'm looking at a Ryzen 5 5600X paired with an NVIDIA RTX 5060 8GB. I know the 8GB VRAM might be limiting, but I think the DLSS and frame generation capabilities of the new card could make a difference. My main concern is whether the CPU will bottleneck performance at high settings. Should I consider an upgrade to AM5, or would an alternative GPU like the RX 9060XT 16GB or RX 7600XT (which are a bit pricier) make more sense? Also, what are your thoughts on the RTX 3060 for next year?

For most AAA games on high to ultra, your GPU will be the key player, so you shouldn't experience bottlenecks there. On medium settings, though, the CPU could start to hold you back, especially in competitive games. I’d personally lean towards the RX 9060XT 16GB for a bit more future-proofing.

Is the 3060 still decent for 1080p gaming on medium settings?

At 1080p, it's likely your CPU will bottleneck performance. Honestly, even with a Ryzen 5700X3D and a 4070Ti at 1440p, the GPU doesn't fully unleash its potential until then. 8GB VRAM is fine for 1080p gaming; there's really no need for DLSS unless you're targeting insane frame rates like 360-480fps on high-refresh monitors.

So what's your pick for a good graphics card?

If you want the best bang for your buck, consider going for the 5700X3D with the RX 7600XT. The better cache on the CPU and 16GB on the GPU will give you a solid performance boost. The AM5 platform does seem a bit overhyped, especially for a budget-friendly build. At 1080p, you'll likely have ample power for a long while!

Yeah, but keep in mind I'm trying to stick around $1000 for the whole build.

What about upgrading to a Ryzen 5 7500F or 8400F with an AM5 motherboard instead?
