I'm having a frustrating issue while trying to install Windows 11. After setting it up and reaching the desktop, I connect to the internet, and it starts downloading updates. That's when things go wrong. The screen goes black, then transitions to a blue screen with a black bar at the bottom, and finally, I end up with a grey screen where nothing works. I've rebooted and even done fresh installs multiple times, but it always gets stuck at this grey screen. Yesterday, I managed to install without issues, so I'm not sure what's going wrong now. I also tried installing graphics drivers without being online, but that didn't help either. Should I try installing my other drivers before the GPU drivers? What could be causing this?

It sounds frustrating! Have you tried skipping the internet connection during the setup process? There might be a chance that Windows is automatically downloading problematic drivers that lead to the grey screen. I’d recommend doing your driver installations without connecting to the internet first, then you can connect once you have everything set up properly.
I had a similar issue once, and it turned out that some drivers were just not compatible. If possible, try to get your important drivers installed first – especially chipset and network drivers. After those are in place, connect to the internet and let Windows handle the rest. This might help avoid the bad updates.
