Understanding AWS Credit Application for New Accounts

I'm part of an AWS Organization, and one of our accounts was added just last month. I'm curious about how AWS applies credits: if they issue credits to that new account this month, will those credits take effect immediately, or will they start applying next month?

What kinds of credits do you have? Some might cover support costs while others don’t. Also, keep in mind that not all services may be covered by these credits, especially outside services. Just watch out for the expiration date!

If the AWS account was already in the organization and gets credited after, those credits are applied right away. But for newly joined accounts under credit sharing, the credits usually apply starting next month.

Once the credits are added, they kick in immediately based on usage. You can actually track how they're utilized in the Billing section. Just a heads-up, though—I can't recall if I ever had credits that were applied to the overall invoice instead of usage. Maybe someone else can confirm that?

The credits will start being applied as soon as they're redeemed. Just make sure you have credit sharing enabled for everything to work smoothly!

I've heard that in some cases, credits can appear the same month they’re issued. Not quite sure why that happens, though.

For the most accurate info, it's best to get in touch with the AWS Billing support team directly. They'll have the specific answers for you!
