Help! My New Graphics Card Keeps Beeping at Me

Hey everyone! I've been having a rough time with my setup after a Microsoft update messed things up. I'm using a Gigabyte Aorus 670E motherboard and after some trouble getting it to boot, I started getting those dreaded 8 beeps, which usually means an issue with the graphics card or power supply. I've tried reseating the card, changing power cables, and even switching to different graphics cards, but the beeping continues. I even returned a graphics card that showed up used, and after getting a new one, it still isn't working. I thought I might have a bad PCIe slot since both the onboard video and another GPU worked fine, but I can't get it to boot properly with the new card. I'm 65 and have built PCs since Windows 95! I'd love any advice you all have, as I'm feeling pretty lost right now. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Cool to see someone who’s built PCs for so long! I think you might be on the right track with the power situation. Make sure your PSU can handle the new graphics card’s demands. If you have a chance, testing another GPU or a different power supply might help isolate the issue. Hang in there!

Thanks for the encouragement! I’ll definitely check the power supply as well. I appreciate all the tips!

Have you checked the beep codes? Sometimes those patterns really help pinpoint the problem. Based on what you described, it’s likely that it’s either a bad PCIe slot or perhaps an issue with the power supply. Have you tried resetting the BIOS or updating it? It's a good idea to give that a shot before thinking about replacing the motherboard. Good luck!

I agree with checking the BIOS! Also, if it continues to beep after the reset, try using a different PCIe slot for your graphics card. It could just be that one slot is funky.

I feel your pain! It sounds like you did everything right, but tech can be so finicky. Since the motherboard is only a year old, I would try to reset the CMOS. That sometimes clears up weird issues like this! And don’t forget to make sure your graphics card is set to boot from PCIe, not the onboard video. Just a thought!

Definitely check the boot settings! Sometimes it's the little things that cause the biggest headaches.
