I'm trying to play an old computer game that I loved, but my new computer doesn't have a disc drive. I do have a portable DVD drive, but I want to know if I can create an .iso image so I can play my game without having to use it. Additionally, I need to create an ISO image of my Windows drive for recovery reasons. I'm running Windows 10 and could use help figuring this out.

Not an expert, but maybe you can just drag the ISO off the disc onto your desktop? That could be a pretty straightforward way to get it.

I’m not sure how to do that!

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. The files you see on the disc aren't the same as an .iso file. An .iso is a container that holds the entire disk image. To bypass the need for the physical CD, you can use software like Daemon Tools to mount the image virtually.

You should check out Daemon Tools Lite for this. It's great for mounting .iso files. If your game disc has any copy protection, you might need something like Alcohol 120% to create a working image. That said, if the game is really old, it might not even be protected, so Daemon Tools could be enough for your needs. Just some food for thought!

Try using ImgBurn to make a backup to a flash drive. Once you have it on the flash drive, you can install it right from there onto your PC, and it should work just fine!
