I'm about to start studying cybersecurity and I have some experience with Linux, having used both Ubuntu and Debian before. I'm curious what Linux distributions would be best for someone like me who's just starting out in the field. I know Kali is often recommended, but I feel like it might be overkill and a bit of a cliché. What do you all think?

You definitely don't need to use Kali as your main OS; most cybersecurity pros don’t. If you're already comfortable with Ubuntu or Debian, stick with those since they're great for daily use. Just remember, in the industry, you'll encounter RHEL, Ubuntu, or SuSE Enterprise a lot, so it’s good to choose something that you feel at ease with. The differences are mainly in package management, which is simple to pick up if needed.
So I'm guessing it doesn't really matter? Is there a distro that’s better for battery life? Heard Mint or Arch could be good for that.
