So, I'm a 16-year-old girl and I'm having a tough time with my laptop not connecting to my mobile hotspot. It connects to the Wi-Fi but shows no internet access, and I'm confident the issue is with the laptop itself. Here's what I've tried so far: I've restarted the laptop multiple times, forgotten and reconnected to the hotspot on my phone, and even tried USB and Bluetooth tethering, but nothing works. It's a Victus 15 laptop with a MediaTek Wi-Fi card, and I have unlimited data, so it's not a data cap problem. Unfortunately, I can't download any drivers because I don't have internet access, and I even tried pressing the power button for 30 seconds to see if that would reset something. Any help would be appreciated!

Have you checked if your mobile plan allows tethering? Sometimes service providers put restrictions on hotspot usage that can unexpectedly cut off internet when using a laptop. Just a thought!
It sounds like your laptop might be having driver issues. Go to the device manager and uninstall the Wi-Fi driver. No need to worry; Windows should automatically reinstall it. Check out a YouTube tutorial if you need more detailed steps!
I'm worried that if I uninstall my only driver, it won't work at all afterward. Am I missing something?
Have you checked the settings on your laptop? Go to Settings -> Network & Internet -> Advanced network settings -> Hardware and connection properties. Make sure DHCP is enabled and that your DNS settings are correct. If you want a total refresh, you could also reset your network settings. Just be careful with that!
Just a quick check—does your Wi-Fi card get an IP address other than 169.254.x.x? If you can, try pinging your mobile hotspot. Sometimes Windows shows the 'no internet' icon even when the Wi-Fi is connected.
I haven't tried pinging my hotspot yet. I’ll see if I can figure that out!
Yeah, I've had no issues with tethering until today, so I don't think that's the problem.
