Is It Worth Spending More on the RX 9070 XT for 1440p Gaming?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to buy a new GPU for my ultrawide monitor that runs at 3440x1440. I'm currently using a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and mainly play grand strategy games, which are pretty CPU-intensive. I'm eyeing the new RX 9060 XT 16GB priced at around $400, but there's also a used RX 9070 XT available for about $700. I really don't want to go over budget unless the performance difference at my resolution is significant. Occasionally, I play single-player games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, but I'm okay with medium settings at 1440p. So, do you think the RX 9060 XT is sufficient for my gaming needs, or should I invest in the RX 9070 XT? Appreciate your input!

Be cautious with the used RX 9070 XT, especially since it’s fairly new. There might be reasons for selling it already. Just something to think about before spending that much.

Good point! I hadn't thought about that. Thanks for the advice!

The RX 9060 XT is decent for medium settings at 1440p, but if you want ultra settings or plan to play more intense games, the RX 9070 XT is definitely the better choice. It really depends on your gaming style. If you're mostly into strategy games, the 9060 could work, but for anything faster-paced, you'll want the 9070.

Thanks for the insight! I might consider the performance trade-off.

If possible, I’d spend the extra $120 to get a new RX 9070 XT for about $820. The warranty and the better performance at 1440p could be worth it in the long run. The RX 9060 XT might struggle a bit, especially with your ultrawide setup. You don’t want to limit your awesome monitor with a lesser GPU.

Unfortunately, $800 is too steep for me. What are your thoughts on picking up a used 7800 XT for around $400?
