Help! CHKDSK Fails with Disk Read Error on Windows 11

I've been running into a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) every time I boot up Windows 11. I found a YouTube video suggesting various commands to fix it, including running CHKDSK. However, during the scan, it fails at Stage 4 with an error message stating that there's not enough space to replace bad clusters and I also get a couple of unspecified error codes. I'm worried there could be a serious problem with my hardware. Can anyone provide some guidance on this?

First thing you should do is gather any dump files from your system. You can find them in C:WindowsMinidump if you can boot into Windows (or Safe Mode). These files are crucial for diagnosing the BSOD issues. Zip up the folder with the dump files and upload it to a sharing site like Catbox or Mediafire so others can help analyze it. If you don’t have many dump files, adjusting your settings to create small memory dumps can help get more useful data for troubleshooting!

It sounds like you're dealing with file system issues and not necessarily a hardware failure. I recommend letting CHKDSK complete its scan if possible, as stopping it can potentially worsen the filesystem damage. If it's stuck, you may need to try booting into Safe Mode and running it from there. Also, make sure you have some free space on your drive because CHKDSK needs it to repair any bad sectors it finds. Once that's done, check to see if any files need to be backed up.

Honestly, if the disk is failing, it might be time to consider getting a new SSD or HDD. Before making that jump, however, try to back up what data you can. You can use a secondary drive if available or connect it to another computer to try and recover your files.
