I'm considering switching to a 65W charger for my Lenovo Ideapad S145-14iwl since my old 45W charger died. I'm a bit anxious about this change. Will using the 65W charger affect my laptop or its battery? I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'd appreciate any advice!

In modern devices, as long as you ensure the voltage and polarity match, you’ll be perfectly fine. Older laptops had fuses, but today’s just adjust to the charger. USB-C can be really forgiving too!
Using a higher capacity adapter is actually beneficial since it won’t be working as hard. Just ensure the voltage and connector type match, and you should be good. These modern laptops can handle it pretty well!
I hadn’t thought about that! Thanks for pointing it out.
You're all good! Your laptop will only draw the power it needs, whether you use a 45W or 65W charger, as long as the output voltage is the same. Think of it like moving furniture—more space doesn’t mean you’ll be forced to fill it! Just make sure you check the voltage, and you’re set!
Thanks! I appreciate the clarification.
Definitely check the voltage output! As long as it's the same as your old adapter (19V DC, I hope?), you're safe using that 65W charger. Laptops are pretty smart about this. They just take what they need from the charger!
So would it be better to stick with 45W then?
If the charger fits and the connector is right, you shouldn’t have any problems. Just keep in mind that the voltage needs to match exactly to avoid any damage.
But isn’t it risky to use a different wattage?
So I can really just use anything with a USB-C port?
