I used CrystalDiskMark a couple of years ago on my laptop without any issues, and it showed me the drive speeds after running tests. Now, after several Windows reinstalls, I tried testing a new external drive, but all the metrics are showing "0" as if the tests never occurred. Even for my Windows boot drive, which previously worked with CrystalDiskMark, I'm getting "0" speeds. What could be causing this problem?

It sounds like there might be a few factors at play here. First, check if SMART is enabled in your BIOS; sometimes it can cause issues with benchmark tools. If everything seems fine there, you could try completely uninstalling CrystalDiskMark with a tool like Revo Uninstaller and then reinstalling it. Alternatively, consider using other disk benchmarking software, such as SSD Benchmark, HD Tune, or Anvil's Storage Utilities.
I heard there's been issues with certain versions of CrystalDiskMark after updates; what version are you using? If it's outdated, try downloading the latest one and see if that resolves the speed readings.
