Which SSD Should I Choose: Orico oG7000 or Samsung 970 Evo Plus?

I'm trying to choose between two SSDs for my OS and boot drive, mainly for casual use and gaming. One option is the Orico oG7000 2TB Gen 4, which is slightly cheaper and has higher advertised read/write speeds. The other is a second-hand Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2TB Gen 3. I know the Samsung has DRAM, which seems to be a premium feature, but I'm wondering if that really makes a difference for my needs. Any thoughts on which one I should go for?

If your motherboard supports PCIe Gen 4, go for the Orico. But if it only supports Gen 3, then the Samsung might be a safer bet since it has better longevity specs. Just be cautious and check its TBW before buying; make sure it hasn't been heavily used already.

Good point! My motherboard has both Gen 3 and Gen 4 slots, and I've heard mixed reviews about used drives. I read somewhere the Samsung has a decent history of low use, but DRAM is definitely tempting to consider.

Staying away from used drives is usually a good idea. The Samsung is getting older anyway. I'd just grab the Orico for peace of mind and warranty benefits.

Honestly, if you're mostly using the drive for the OS and gaming, the advertised sequential speeds won't really matter much. I'd lean towards getting the new Orico drive since it's cheaper and you're not sacrificing much for casual use.

I hear you on the price! But I'm still a bit worried about the lack of DRAM on the Orico. It feels like a big factor that many overlook.
