How can I use my computer to display my PS4 without an input button?

I'm facing a bit of a problem! My TV is broken and I can't see anything on it, making it impossible to play my PS4. After some research, I learned that I can connect my PS4 to my Windows computer using HDMI. However, I've hit a snag—many guides say I need to press an input button, which I don't have. I also tried changing the display settings on my computer to see if that would work, but no luck. Unfortunately, I don't have a second monitor either. I'm at a loss here and could really use some help!

If you could provide the specific make and model of your computer, that would help a lot! Different computers have different capabilities, so knowing your setup can help others give you the right advice.

It sounds like you're trying to connect your PS4 to a setup that won't support it the way you want. If you're plugging the PS4 into a monitor that your computer uses, that's usually how it works. But if you're on a laptop, it won't work for direct input on the laptop screen. You typically can't send the video from your PS4 through your computer's HDMI.

Got it! So basically, I can’t play directly on my laptop then?

You seem a little mixed up about how HDMI works. Just a heads up: HDMI ports on TVs and monitors are inputs, while on PCs they are outputs. You need a way to switch inputs on your monitor or TV. Check your device's manual for instructions. Alternatively, if you get a USB HDMI capture card, you can connect your console to that, then plug it into your computer and use capture software to view your PS4 on your PC. It's usually meant for streaming, but it could be a solution for you!

So you're saying I can't just plug my PS4 into the computer and play directly?
