Is My Windows 11 Enterprise Key Compromising My Local Admin Rights?

I recently decided to buy a Windows 11 Enterprise key from Groupon since it was super cheap at around $10. I wanted those extra security features, but now I'm running into some unexpected issues. Even when I'm logged in as a local admin, it seems like my RDP settings can still be altered by some organization. I've got hardening tools set up that limit my ability to run command prompts and check my connections, which leaves me feeling pretty vulnerable. I switched to a generic Windows 11 Pro key and it shows as activated, but I'm still worried that the organization has control over my local admin account. Is there any way around this issue without having to reflash my system? I'm really confused and could use some help!

Just a heads up, if you've set up a 'work or school' account, that can also give rise to these management features. When you install certain apps like Office 365, they sometimes prompt you to allow organizational management, and that can lead to the same kind of control you're experiencing. It might be worth checking your account settings to see if this is the case.

It sounds like the issues you're encountering might not be directly related to your key purchase. The fact that you see messages indicating your PC is 'managed by org' could stem from certain settings made by the hardening tools you're using. Some tools apply policies that cause these types of messages. Can you share more details about what exactly you're seeing? Any screenshots would help clarify the situation!

I’m using hardening tools like Hard Configurator and the Windows 10 Hardening script. The message I'm seeing when I check the RDP settings is a bit scary, plus my Documents folder had a strange little .RDP config file. I've been finding desktop.ini files randomly appearing too, which just adds to my suspicion.
