Is it worth upgrading to a 5080 for my $3,000 gaming and design PC build?

I'm building a PC with a budget of $3,000 primarily for gaming and design work (using software like Adobe and Blender). I've been considering whether to go with a 5080 or stick with the 5070 Ti. I'm also thinking about whether it's worth swapping out the 9 9950X3D for a 9800X3D and using the extra cash to get the 5080 instead. I've heard that the performance difference between the 5080 and 5070 Ti isn't significant, so I could potentially upgrade other components instead. Here's my build list for reference: [PC Part Picker List](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/s8x6gn). Any insights would be appreciated!

Ultimately, it depends on your preference. I chose the 5 series, but don't sleep on the new Radeons either. A 9070XT or 5700 could also save you a ton. Plus, investing in an OLED gaming monitor with the money you save could change your gaming experience entirely; they're great for watching movies too!

I do a lot of design work and photo editing, so color accuracy is pretty important to me. With that said, I think an IPS monitor is the way to go.

If you manage to get a 5080 at or near MSRP, you might just end up with the best of both worlds!

When it comes to gaming, the 9950X3D and 9800X3D perform similarly. If you're leaning more towards productivity, stick with the 9950X3D. But if gaming is a priority, consider switching to the 9800X3D and get the 5080. I have the combo of the 9800X3D and 5080, and it works great for both gaming and design. If you do go the 9800X3D route, maybe invest that saved cash into better cooling or additional fans.

I would say it's about a 50/50 split of gaming and work. I guess my question would be, will the 9950X3D be noticeably better at productivity?

Spending $3K for a 5070 Ti seems a bit over the top. You can snag some decent prebuilt systems for around $2K to $2.5K.

With the 5070 Ti, my total came out to about $2500. I’m just weighing whether the 5080 would be worth that extra $600.

From what I've read, the 5080 only offers about a 10-15% performance boost over the 5070 Ti, but it comes at a 40-50% higher price tag. Personally, I opted for the 5070 Ti since budget is a concern for me. If it were me, I’d get the 5070 Ti and maybe spend the savings on something fun like a Switch 2 instead!

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. I just can’t justify the cost increase.

According to some benchmarks, the 5080 is about 15% faster than the 5070 Ti at 4K resolution. But is that worth a $510 price jump? I don’t think so. Plus, new versions with higher VRAM are rumored to be on the way, which makes the current price seem a bit crazy for just 16GB.
