Why is my RTX 5080 not displaying on boot?

Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to PCs, and I recently bought a PreBuilt setup with a Ryzen 9 9900X and an RTX 5080. I'm using an Omen Transcend 32 monitor with a 4K resolution at 240Hz, connected through a DisplayPort cable labeled DP40 that came with the monitor.

The issue I'm facing is quite frustrating: whenever I boot my PC, I see the ASUS logo and a loading circle initially. However, after about 5 seconds, the display goes black, even though I can hear Windows starting up from my speakers. I tried restarting several times, but the problem persisted.

In a bit of trial and error, I discovered that if I plug the DP cable into the motherboard instead of the RTX 5080, I can see the Windows lock screen. After logging in, if I switch the cable back to the GPU, it works fine, and my games are running smoothly at over 150 FPS in 4K. I'm not sure what could be causing this odd requirement, so I'm reaching out for some guidance. Any insights would be appreciated!

I've dealt with a similar issue before; when I switched from DP to HDMI, a full clean uninstall and reinstall of the NVIDIA and monitor drivers fixed it for me. Maybe give that a shot?

It sounds like you're seeing the initial boot signal, but there's a hang-up during the handoff to the GPU. A likely reason could be the cable connection—make sure it's securely plugged in. Sometimes re-seating the GPU in the slot helps too. Are you still having issues, or did it resolve?

I had something similar; sometimes the DP cable just isn't fully connected at boot. Double-check all ports.

It still seems problematic! As I mentioned, it only works when I plug into the motherboard first. Booting directly with the DP cable into the GPU gives me that annoying black screen.
