Why does my GPU crash when I install drivers?

I'm having a frustrating issue with my RTX 4060 8GB and i5 13400f setup. Everything was running smoothly for months, but now my GPU seems to give up as soon as I install drivers. The bizarre part is that it works perfectly in BIOS and runs fine in Windows until I connect to the internet and the drivers load. When that happens, the GPU fans shut off, it loses output after about five seconds, and then the fans blast at max RPM until I restart. I've even formatted my system twice and tried different Nvidia driver versions (572.83 and 576.80). Is my GPU dead, or could there be something else at play here?

Have you tried updating your BIOS? Sometimes these kinds of issues can stem from outdated firmware not being compatible with your current hardware or drivers. It might be worth a shot!

I haven’t done that yet. I’ll look into updating it and see if that resolves the issue.
