How Do I Connect My Fan Controller to the Motherboard?

I just powered on my PC for the first time (might be the second attempt since I initially skipped plugging in the smaller connector from the 24-pin cable). The BIOS is loading, but only the AIO cooler lights up and spins; my case fans aren't working. I have a fan controller that came with my MSI case, and I currently have its cables connected to the Sys_fan1 and ARGB V2 2 ports on the motherboard. Am I connecting them incorrectly? I could really use some fast help!

Make sure your fan controller is connected to a SATA power cable from your power supply unit (PSU). Without that, it won't get any power. You should have two connections: one to the PSU and the other from the fan controller to the motherboard's Sys_fan1.

Wait, the controller needs a SATA connection from the PSU? I didn't know that! What should I do if I don’t have a spare SATA cable?

Yeah, definitely connect it to the PSU. Once it’s powered, the Sys_fan1 should control the fans properly.

What model of fan controller are you using? That way, we can provide more tailored advice about connections and setups.

I can’t find the exact model, but it has 'PWM IN' on the left side, three fan slots, an LED cable in the middle, and three LED slots on the left side. Does that help?
