Hey everyone! I'm diving into the PC building world after 30 years of console gaming and I'm really excited about it. My son recently built a PC, and now I think it's time for me to jump in too. While I'm familiar with most components, my knowledge of GPUs is pretty limited. I've heard mixed reviews about the latest GPU generation being problematic, but since I'm starting from scratch, will I actually notice these issues? I'm aiming for a setup that will last me 4-5 years and enjoy good performance at 1440p, especially with ray tracing and all that jazz. I'm considering either the 5070 Ti or the 9070 XT, and I'd love to hear some objective advice. Beyond the specs, what should I practically expect from these cards? I plan to connect to a TV with a controller, so I'm not too focused on hitting high FPS beyond 90. Also, I appreciate all the thoughtful replies in advance, as I was worried this would turn into a brand war!

If you’re starting fresh, either the 5070 Ti or the 9070 XT will give you an unforgettable experience! Honestly, don’t let the online talks sway you if you can afford either card; they’ll serve you well. Just a heads up though, you might not see a massive difference if you're using a TV. A solid monitor can really take your gaming to the next level, so keep that in mind!
I plan to get a good monitor when I can. Right now, space is tight with the kids around, and I don't want a flashy PC setup in the living room. But the dual monitor idea is definitely on my list!
