Hey everyone! I'm curious about how IT support teams handle their offboarding process. Do you use any automated systems to remind users to complete all necessary steps, or do you just send them an email asking for the return of equipment and other items?

We created an app using Power Automate for our offboarding process. It starts when HR inputs the employee's name and generates necessary tickets for things like mobile contracts and non-AD/Entra-based licenses. We also file a ticket to track the inventory, ensuring we get every piece of hardware back. The user account gets deactivated on their last working day, and managers have 30 days to review their OneDrive. After that, the account automatically deletes.
I've always said, "Don’t take yourself too seriously" during offboarding! But in seriousness, some teams have a things-to-do list that includes all the tasks an employee needs to complete. It's just a good way to ensure nothing gets missed.
Just a heads up, some teams use simple checklists or templates to help organize equipment returns and account deactivations. It’s mostly manual, but helps keep everything on track. Also, I've heard of others who mix in automated reminders along with personal emails.
