I have an Acer Aspire Vero laptop that's acting up. Last night, while moving it, the charger made a loud pop, and now the laptop won't turn on at all. The charging indicator doesn't light up, even when plugged in. I've checked the charger and extension cord, tried holding the power button for over 30 seconds, and let it sit for a while.
This laptop isn't the best quality and has had multiple issues in the last couple of years, so I'm weighing whether to get it repaired or just buy a new one. I suspect it might just be the battery, but I know if there's a deeper problem, the repair costs could be high. Since my previous repairs were covered under warranty, I have no idea what repairs usually cost.
I know I should back up my Sims saves, which is important to me, but if repairs end up costing more than the laptop is worth, I'd have to consider how much my game saves mean to me. I'd really appreciate any insights on a possible repair cost and any troubleshooting tips to possibly fix it myself!

Have you tried booting it up without the battery? It might help to see, but if the battery isn’t removable, that complicates things. Just be cautious if you do attempt to open it up yourself.
Honestly, if your power adapter is faulty and your laptop won't boot, you're likely looking at a motherboard replacement too, which can get pricey. I'd say a new laptop might be a better bet, especially given how many problems you've had with this one.
First off, you might want to consider starting with a new charger. Sometimes that's all it takes, and it's a smaller investment compared to a whole repair or new laptop.
Unfortunately, the battery seems to be non-removable. I’m really hesitant to start unscrewing things without any experience.
