I've been using my MacBook Air for less than a year, and it was working great until a few months ago. I mainly used it for gaming, but I knew it wouldn't handle too many games. I downloaded Steam, but when I uninstalled it, my storage didn't seem to reflect that change; it still shows nearly full. I re-downloaded Steam and it took up space that wasn't used by anything else. However, when I deleted it again, the space didn't free up. I'm planning to take it to someone for help, but I want to see if there's anything I can fix at home first. Any suggestions on what to do?

Have you tried emptying your Trash? Sometimes files can linger there even after you think you've deleted everything. It's a simple step that could make a difference!
It might be worth checking for old backups or snapshots that could be taking up space. In my experience, those can pile up under system storage without you even realizing. You can usually purge the old backups to reclaim some space. Just make sure to look into your settings to see if that's the issue!
I’m sure that might be it, but I’m pretty clueless when it comes to tech. Could you explain what you mean in simpler terms?
That was the first thing I tried but thanks anyways.
