Experiencing BSOD with mtkwl6ex.sys on Windows 11 – Need Help!

Hey everyone! I built my PC about two years ago, and recently I've been hit with the blue screen of death. The first instance came out of nowhere while I was just away from my desk, running only Discord. The stop code was SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. After I rebooted, everything seemed fine until it restarted again while I was idle with just Discord open. Now it says it didn't shut down properly. I recently updated my graphic drivers, and I checked my Wi-Fi adapter drivers in Device Manager, which are also up to date. I live in a place with shared Wi-Fi, so I'm not sure if that could be affecting anything. Any ideas on what might be causing these crashes and what I should check to fix this?

To get a clear idea of what’s causing the BSOD, you should start by looking for dump files, which are crash logs that can help analyze what went wrong. If you can boot into Windows normally or through Safe Mode, check the folder at C:WindowsMinidump for any crash logs. If you find any, zip them up and upload them to a file sharing site like MediaFire or Catbox.moe. It's best to gather multiple dump files for a thorough analysis. Also, make sure to follow instructions on how to adjust your settings to get more detailed dump files if you’re not seeing anything.

Don’t freak out about your error code just yet! A lot of times, it can be due to driver bugs or hardware issues rather than malware. Based on what you're describing, particularly with the mtkwl6ex.sys, it looks like a problem with the MediaTek driver. I suggest looking for updates for that driver directly from the MediaTek website or through the manufacturer of your Wi-Fi adapter. Also, double-check your RAM and consider running a memory diagnostic to rule out hardware issues.

Thanks for the tip! I did run a Windows Memory Diagnostic and it said everything was fine. I guess I’ll focus on updating that driver next.
