I'm having trouble factory resetting my phone because the battery died and I forgot my password. I've been trying the button combination to perform the reset, but it never gets me to the right screen. Am I maybe pressing the buttons incorrectly or for too short a time? Since I can't turn off the phone normally due to the password issue, I had to power it down by removing the battery. I've also tried the power and volume down buttons, but it just restarts the phone instead of turning it off. Any suggestions on how to properly press the buttons or any tips for a factory reset?

Without knowing your phone model, it’s hard to say why the reset isn't working. Just a note: even if you do manage to factory reset it, you’ll likely still need that password afterward for security reasons, especially for devices released in the last decade.
It sounds like you're in a bit of a tricky situation. Most phones require you to unlock them first for a reset, and if your OEM bootloader option is off, the standard button combinations might not work. If you can visit a service center, they might assist you with the reset if you provide a proof of purchase and the original box. Just double-check that you’re pressing the correct combination for your model.
I’ve heard some service centers are pretty accommodating with these things, especially if you can prove it's yours.
It's a Galaxy A13, and I'm specifically trying for a factory reset, not a normal one.
