Hi everyone! I'm new to Linux Mint and I often see the option to install apps either as a system package or via Flatpak. Can anyone explain the differences between these two options? Which one is safer to use, and which runs faster?

In my experience, system packages are usually better unless you have specific needs. For instance, if you regularly use apps like Discord or OBS, Flatpak might be better since they auto-update seamlessly. But for most apps, stick to the system packages for stability.
It really depends on the app you're looking to install. For frequently updated apps like Discord, Flatpak works great. But for apps that you want to remain stable and tailored to your distro, stick with the APT system packages.
I'd recommend going with the system package whenever possible. Since these are verified by your distribution's developers, you're more likely to get a stable and compatible experience. Flatpak packages, on the other hand, tend to include everything needed for the app, which can take up extra space, including things you might not even need, like support for multiple languages.
