Why is my NVMe SSD’s write speed so low?

I've been using a Silicon Power 1TB P34A60 Gen3x4 NVMe SSD, and I just did a speed test with CrystalDiskMark. The write speed is showing as 279 Mbps, which is significantly lower than what I expected based on the advertised specs. The read speed, however, is at 3210 Mbps, which seems fine. I currently have around 15% of my storage available. Is this kind of performance normal for this SSD?

Yeah, that can happen if the SSD is nearing its capacity, especially with QLC drives like yours. They tend to have lower write speeds when they're a bit full. Keeping an eye on the free space can help maintain performance!

279 Mbps is still actually pretty fast for a native write speed on a 1TB QLC SSD. It's probably just hitting its SLC cache but not at full speed anymore. Usually, for QLC drives, anything over 200 Mbps for native write speed happens on 2TB or larger models since they can utilize more NAND channels.

Are you sure your model is QLC? I think mine might be TLC, which generally performs better on sustained writes.
