I'm trying to merge my two Apple accounts into one for simplicity. My first account (Setup A) is linked to my yahoo.com email, where I've made purchases like computers and music on iTunes. I initially thought that would be my main account. My second account (Setup B) is under an edu email, which I didn't choose but ended up using for my iPhone and other purchases, including subscriptions like Apple TV+ and iCloud. I've realized I want to consolidate everything into account A because it's my preferred email, but I came across some information suggesting that Apple has strict rules regarding which account is considered primary and secondary. Essentially, can I merge everything from B into A, and which account would Apple see as primary according to their guidelines? Am I thinking about this the right way? Appreciate any insights!

Merging accounts isn’t straightforward. It sounds like you recognized early on that A might not have significant purchases to worry about. The music on iTunes should be DRM-free, so you can transfer that without issue. The hardware purchases associated with A don’t really matter in the grand scheme—so if B is the account your phone is tied to, it might be worth sticking with B and letting go of A entirely. You’ll just need to adapt to that for now!
Apple has specific criteria for determining which account is primary and which is secondary. You can check their guidelines [here](https://support.apple.com/en-us/117294#:~:text=At%20the%20time,secondary%20Apple%20Account.). Unfortunately, you can’t just choose which account you want to be primary; Apple decides based on their parameters.
Is it possible to change the email on account B? I’d prefer not to keep using the edu account.
