I've got an Intel Core i5-6600 CPU that's about 11 years old, and it's definitely showing its age, especially with a new 3060 Ti GPU that I just got from a friend's family after he passed away. I don't play a lot of demanding games, but I'm experiencing slow loading issues even with basic tasks. My budget for a potential upgrade is around $150 to $250. What are my best options for a CPU upgrade, especially considering I might already have DDR4 RAM to reuse?

Sounds like your storage might be the problem too. If you're still using a hard drive, upgrading to an SSD could help with those loading times significantly. You could get a new motherboard and a Ryzen 5500 CPU for under $200, and if you add an SSD for around $50, that could really speed things up!
You might want to check out some AM4 CPUs since they're quite popular right now and many people are upgrading to newer platforms. For your budget, you should be able to find a combo deal for a CPU, motherboard, and RAM from the Ryzen 5000 series, possibly around $250. I came across a 5600G combo for that price! Since you already have DDR4 RAM, you can reuse it, making the upgrade much smoother.
If you're experiencing slow loading, check your CPU usage in Task Manager. If it's not hitting high usage consistently, then it might be your RAM or storage failing. I'd recommend looking into an R5 7600 bundle if you have a Microcenter nearby. It's pricey, but it's a great upgrade for serious performance. If not, even just a B550 motherboard and the Ryzen 5500 can do wonders on your budget!
A quick fix could also be just ditching that old CPU and going with a new AM4 CPU, motherboard, plus at least 32GB of RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD. If you search around, you should be able to do that for around $250. It's amazing how much better everything performs with SSDs!
Don't stress too much about the CPU being old while gaming at 1080p; it might not be a huge issue. Still, I'd recommend upgrading to an SSD for faster load times, and maybe look into a Ryzen 5 5600 or even a 9600X if you want a solid performance boost.

I agree! SSDs can work wonders. If you really want to optimize your setup, definitely consider a SSD upgrade!
