How Should I Install My New RAM in My Prebuilt PC?

I recently purchased a prebuilt PC that currently has one RAM stick installed in slot 2. I also got two additional RAM sticks that I want to install. Is it okay to put them in slots 1 and 3 and leave the existing stick in slot 2, or should I take that stick out? The new sticks are from a different brand and I'm worried that might create compatibility issues. Also, what's the deal with speeds? The new sticks are 6400MHz while the existing one is 6000MT/s; does that matter?

You should definitely check your motherboard's manual to see the recommended slot configuration. Mixing RAM brands can work, but it's best if they're the same speed. Since you have one stick running at 6400MHz and another at 6000MT/s, the system will probably default to the lower speed, so it's something to consider. If you can, stick with the two that match in speed and brand for the best performance!

Yeah, mixing different speeds can cause some issues. If you want maximum performance, I'd recommend using the two new sticks if they are the same, and leaving the old one out.
