Is My New PC Good Enough for 1440p Gaming Over the Next Few Years?

I recently got a PC with a 5060 Ti 16GB and an i5-14400F and I'm thinking about upgrading to a 1440p monitor next year. I'm curious if this setup will be able to handle most AAA games at 1440p using DLSS 4 and Frame Gen 4 for the next four years. Currently, I'm playing Indiana Jones—one of the most demanding titles out there—and I'm getting a solid 85 fps at maxed-out settings in 1440p. Do you think my PC will still be able to achieve high or medium settings in AAA games down the line, especially with Frame Gen 4 and DLSS 4? Also, latency isn't a worry for me since I use a controller, and I'm hoping Frame Gen will keep improving over time!

Honestly, you'll struggle to play 1440p now, let alone in four years!

No offense, but that's not how I see it. Games like Indiana Jones run smoothly without DLSS at 60 fps and with Frame Gen, we're looking at over 144 fps. What do you consider a good frame rate?

If you're okay with dialing down the settings a bit, you could definitely stretch your setup's lifespan longer than four years. It all depends on how demanding the future titles become, but managing medium settings should be feasible for quite a while!

It's a mixed bag. There's a chance you'll hold on well, but it really depends on how the gaming landscape evolves. Monitor buying might be a tough call right now!

I guess I need to weigh my options carefully.

85 fps with Frame Gen isn't ideal. Consider that you might dip below 40 fps at peak times, which can impact input lag. Although you mention 144 fps in the future, just keep that in mind.

That’s still enough for me. I’m just hoping that even in four years I can maintain 60 fps at decent settings with Frame Gen 4 and DLSS 4!

Honestly, I'd prefer a 5070 for solid 1440p performance. Right now the 5060 Ti can handle high settings fairly well, but for future-proofing, the extra oomph from a 5070 would have been nice.

That stings a bit! If I’d just spent a little more, I could’ve had that upgrade. But I’m prepared to adjust settings for frame rates!

You should have no problem at medium settings, but high settings might be pushing it. If you’re aiming for 90 fps consistently at medium in three years, that’s realistic, but high could be a stretch depending on the games.
