Is That Pop-up a Virus Alert or Just a Scam?

Hey everyone, I could really use some advice here. I was using Chrome to check out some video converter websites and even downloaded a video. Ever since then, I've been bombarded with these pop-up messages claiming that my computer is infected with viruses. I've run a scan, and it says everything's fine, but when I click on those pop-ups, it takes me to a site trying to sell me an antivirus subscription. It all started after looking for MP3 and MP4 converters, and now I'm not sure if I actually have a virus or if it's just a really shady ad. Some of my friends think it's just ads, but I'm still feeling a bit uneasy about it. What should I do?

Exactly, it's not a real virus—just a scam ad. I’d recommend clearing your browser's cache, removing any suspicious extensions, and using Malwarebytes just to be safe. And definitely steer clear of those sketchy converter sites!

Head to your browser settings and look for notification settings. You can disable notifications for the site or for any sites that send you annoying alerts. This should help eliminate the pop-ups!

I followed your advice, and the scan didn't find anything bad. Thanks!

Yeah, it’s definitely just scam ads. You’re not infected; these ads are common, especially on converter sites.
