My PC Makes My Room Too Hot – Looking for Solutions

I've got a bulky Acer PC, and after about 30 minutes of gaming, my room gets super hot! The air conditioning isn't helping much since the thermostat is in a different room. In the winter, I could just crack open my window, but that's not an option right now in summer. I'm considering getting a portable AC unit that I could vent through my door because my window can't accommodate any design. What do you all think? Any other ideas or solutions you'd recommend? Thanks!

I suggest using a box fan to help circulate air in and out of the room. You might also want to optimize your PC components for better efficiency. That AC venting through the door might not be the best bet. Do your windows not open at all? There are units with vent hoses that could work with any window that opens a couple of inches.

1. Box fan sounds good but I'd prefer keeping my door shut most of the time.

2. My PC needs to be maxed out performance-wise for reasons beyond gaming.

3. I had an idea to design a custom exhaust attachment for the portable AC to slide under my door, but that idea might be a bit impractical. My casement window only opens outwards.

Consider undervolting your CPU and GPU if you're able to. If that doesn't help, then going with the AC is probably your only option. Also, capping your FPS can help—there's no need to run over your monitor's refresh rate.

One unique solution I found is to relocate your PC to another room and just run USB/HDMI cables back to your room. That way, the heat from the PC stays out, and you can still use it without discomfort.

Honestly, the best fix is to somewhat decentralize. If you can't exhaust the heat from the room with fans or AC intake, then consider moving your PC to a different room altogether. That way, it won't heat your space directly.

I keep my gaming PC in my office, and I use a ceiling fan along with a small desk fan to blow warm air out of the room. I also have a vent booster that pulls in more air from the vent, making the space cooler overall.
