Is a 90°C GPU hotspot during Furmark testing a red flag?

I'm considering buying a used ASUS RX 5600 XT from someone on the marketplace. The seller ran Furmark tests every 5 minutes, and I noticed that the hotspot temperature reached 90°C. I'm not very knowledgeable about this kind of stuff, so I'm looking for your thoughts. Is this GPU worth buying? The seller also mentioned that during gaming, the temperatures are around 78-79°C.

Isn't 90°C hotspot pretty standard for many GPUs? My Nvidia card hits 108°C in intense tests, and I've heard it's normal for many people. Just check if 78°C in games is acceptable for you personally!

After you buy it, you might want to consider replacing the thermal paste if you're up for it. Older GPUs can have dried-out paste that doesn't conduct heat well. Refreshing it could lower your temps across the board!

90°C in Furmark is fine, and gaming temps of 78/79°C are manageable as well. Typically, games will keep the GPU cooler than that stress test.

From what I found, a 90°C hotspot is pretty normal for that GPU during Furmark. It's designed to stress the card more than actual games do. The max hotspot temp is often considered to be around 110°C, so you're within a safe range here.
