I'm considering upgrading my PC from a Ryzen 3600 to a 5800XT for under $120. I do a lot of family activities like photo editing and paying bills online, and I currently have a 580 GPU which I might upgrade later. I believe that the 5800XT could serve as a solid final upgrade for an AM4 build that isn't heavily gaming-focused. What are everyone's thoughts on this? The upgrade also includes a better cooler than the one with the 3600, which is an added bonus!

For $120, I'd definitely go for the 5800XT! If it were closer to the regular price of $150, then a 5600 might be better, but if you can get more longevity out of your AM4 socket for just a bit more, it's worth it.
Honestly, the tasks you mentioned can easily be handled by a lower-end CPU. Have you noticed any sluggishness on your current setup? If not, maybe you don't actually need this upgrade. A 5600 would likely meet your needs and could also save you some cash!
Yeah, but I plan for this PC to last my family about 10 years, so I want to make sure it can handle anything over time. Plus, I've already added 32GB of RAM.
Exactly! I want my family to use this for a long time. With 32GB of RAM already in place and a $200 graphics card upgrade planned in about 3 years, I think it'll be a worthwhile investment. They're using it for everything, including online courses!
