Why is my M.2 Gen 4 SSD only running at 25% speed?

I recently bought an ADATA Premium M.2 Gen 4 SSD (2TB) for my PS5 at a great price—93 CAD (68 USD). While I'm seeing improved load times for some games like SF6, I've noticed that the speed is only about 25% of what's advertised. I've checked its health with CrystalDiskInfo and HD Tune, and everything seems fine. My motherboard is an AORUS X470 Ultra Gaming, which has two M.2 sockets. I think I'm using the second socket, which might be limited to PCIe 2.0. Could that explain the low speed? I can't find much info online about the M2B socket and its generation. Thanks for any insights!

It looks like you're right about the socket. An M.2 Gen 4 SSD typically requires a PCIe 4.0 x4 connection to hit its peak performance. Your specs indicate that the second M.2 socket supports only PCIe 2.0 x4, which is substantially slower—about 25% of what you should be getting with that SSD!

So, just to clarify, does any number followed by '.0' indicate the PCIe generation? I understand now that since my SSD is Gen 4 and running on a Gen 2 slot, the speed can’t be up to par. If I move it to the Gen 3 slot, will I see a better performance?
