How Do I Connect My Power Supply to My Motherboard?

I'm building a PC and have a 650W Powerspec power supply along with an AX V2 motherboard. I've successfully connected the 24-pin connector, but I'm stuck on the rest. I've plugged in the PCIe cable, but there's a second end that's not long enough to reach anywhere else. I also have four other cables with connectors in the middle and at the ends, but none of them seem to fit my motherboard. On top of that, the cable marked 'cpu' has the right type of connection for the motherboard, but it doesn't fit into the only open 8-pin port. Where did I go wrong and will I need to replace anything?

It's not uncommon to feel lost with all those cables! The extra PCIe connector is meant for GPUs that need an extra boost, so don’t worry about that for now. The SATA cables are probably just hanging out, waiting for drives that need power. As for the CPU cable, ensure it’s aligned properly; it only fits in one way!

First off, don't panic, you've got this! About that dangling PCIe cable – it's totally normal; it's just a pigtail for extra GPU power if you need it later. Those additional cables with middle connectors are likely SATA cables, which you can ignore if you don’t have SATA drives. For the CPU cable, make sure you're trying to fit it the right way around. If you're still struggling, posting a picture would really help everyone guide you better!

Yeah, sometimes it just takes a fresh look! I had a similar struggle, and flipping the cable around did the trick for me.
