I just got an external DVD drive and tried watching the extended edition of Fellowship of the Ring using VLC version 3.0.21. However, I've noticed that towards the end of the first part, the movie cuts off at 1:45:30, which is way earlier than the actual end at 1:45:39. Does anyone know why this might be happening or how I can fix it?

You might want to try increasing the cache size in VLC. Sometimes boosting the cache helps with playback issues. You can check this [link](https://superuser.com/questions/1703476/what-is-caching-in-video-playback) for more info. I’ve found it helped with some playback problems.
Have you tested if this issue is specific to the DVD or the player? Maybe try playing this DVD on another player if you can, or try different DVDs in your external drive. Also, make sure you have `libdvdcss` installed, as it’s necessary for playing DVDs on some Linux media players.
The DVD drive works fine with other discs. I don’t have another player to test it with, but when I last watched Fellowship on a DVD player connected to my TV, it didn’t cut off like this. And yes, `libdvdcss` is already installed.
I tried that and set the disc caching to 20000ms, but unfortunately, it didn’t work.
