Why Isn’t My PC Showing the Storage I’ve Cleared?

I tried to clear up space on my PC because I wanted to install a new game, but despite deleting a large number of files and even my biggest game (which was 36GB), my available storage hasn't improved. I initially had 35GB, and after all the deletions, I somehow ended up with only 26GB free. I've spent nearly four hours going through tutorials and reaching out to friends, but none of them have been able to help. I've cleaned my disk, used a trusted uninstaller app, checked for temporary files, and even attempted a recovery. I was hoping someone could help me figure out why I'm not reclaiming the space I should have!

Another possibility is your Disk Management tool. Have you checked that? Sometimes partitions can get messed up, and that might be hiding some space from you.

Just a thought, but did you make sure to delete temporary files? Those can take up space and might not get removed with a standard cleanup. It’s worth a shot to look for those!

Have you tried checking your recycle bin? It might sound simple, but sometimes people forget that files stay there until they’re manually deleted. Make sure to clear that out completely and see if it helps!

I checked that too, and it’s totally empty. I thought that would do the trick, but it looks like I still have the same storage issue.

If you’re not seeing space come back, you might want to check something like TreeSize Free. It can help identify what's actually using up your storage, so you can figure out what’s going on under the hood.
