Why did my PC turn on by itself?

Hey everyone, I just experienced a weird issue with my PC—it randomly turned back on while it was completely powered off. I haven't changed any settings, and I don't have any scheduled tasks or updates that could cause this. I'm not even connected to the LAN, so there's no external trigger. I also checked with my antivirus, and everything looks clean. My only theory is that there might be an issue with the power button connector? Has anyone else experienced something like this? Here are my specs for context: I have a licensed Windows 11 setup, an i7-9700 CPU, a 2060 Super GPU, and 16 GB of RAM. Just to clarify, it's a pre-built HP Pavilion TG01, which is usually reliable. Any thoughts?

It could be a glitch with the power supply or a thermal issue. I’d suggest downloading a monitoring program to keep an eye on the CPU temperature while you’re using it. Since your PC powered back on, it seems like the power supply might not be completely failing, but it’s worth checking out.

Check your BIOS settings! Sometimes PCs can be programmed to turn on at specific times through BIOS. If this is a recurring issue, that's definitely the place to look. It might be worth investigating if things like power anomalies are triggering it, too.

Thanks for the tip! I think that might be it since nothing else seems to apply.

This sounds a bit odd, but I've seen situations where some external factors could activate the PC. For instance, if something in your room interacts with the internal power-on circuit, it might trigger the same effect as pressing the power button. Did you happen to move anything around, like a fan or perhaps something else connected to the same power source? Sometimes little changes can cause weird reactions!

I did move my lamp away from the extension cord, but the PC actually turned on two hours later. I didn’t really change anything else.
