I'm in a bit of a situation because I need to upgrade my laptop for school, but funds are tight. I've found some ADATA RAM that's 2400 MHz and comes in at 8GB, which is really affordable. It's so cheap it feels a little suspicious. I've seen mixed reviews about ADATA, with some people saying it's not good at all. Should I go for it or is ADATA really as bad as some claim?

ADATA is actually a decent brand! I've got 7 TBs of their SSDs and have used their RAM too since 2020 with no problems. The pricing is low because it's an older DDR4 standard; most newer PCs come with DDR5 and 32GB or more. It's a good choice for budget builds!
How cheap are we talking? You could always check different stores and online marketplaces to compare prices.
Both my Qnap NAS devices came with ADATA RAM and they've been running smoothly for over a decade. While it's not premium RAM, it does the job well. There are cheaper brands out there, but ADATA holds its own for the price, from my experience.
Ugh, DDR4 really is becoming outdated. But thanks for the reassurance!
