Hey, I really need some help figuring out what happened to my PC. I was trying to install new Corsair fans, and things went wrong when I didn't turn off the power while messing with the wiring. At one point, I was reconnecting the PSU to the fans and there was a spark. My PC shut off suddenly, and when I tried to turn it back on, there was a crunchy sound followed by a burning smell. After that, the computer wouldn't boot up anymore. I figured that my PSU was fried and got a new one, but after installing it, the PC still won't power on. I only hear a tiny clicking sound when I press the power button. I've already tried removing the CMOS battery and reinstalling the RAM, but nothing works. I'm using an ASUS TUF Gaming B650M-Plus WiFi motherboard. Is there a chance the motherboard is fried too? Is there anything specific I need to do to reset it?

You should try jumping the power pins on the 24-pin mobo connector with the PSU unplugged. If the PSU spins up, then the issue is likely your motherboard. But if it doesn't, your replacement PSU might not be good either. By the way, what model was your old PSU and what did you replace it with?
It sounds like your motherboard might indeed be fried. The best way to confirm is to test all your components one at a time to see which ones are still working. Start with the motherboard since you were working on it when the spark happened. There’s a chance other parts could have been damaged too, but the mobo is a good first choice to check.
